"I started the Access course in January 2019, walking into a classroom with 30 other students was daunting as I was out of education for 16 years. The staff made me feel right at home they let us all know that they were there to help us out over the academic year and that there was no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to education. Over the next couple of weeks, I had made friends with all 30 students and before we knew it, our very first assignment was ready to be submitted. The lessons were very helpful and were taught very well. Looking back, I often wonder how I managed to gain qualifications at such a high level without having any previous qualifications from school. The course taught me that learning is for people of all ages. I felt at ease with the staff and relied on them to guide me through the year and what a fantastic year it was! All my fellow peers had passed all the assignments and were waiting for our final grades. I can't thank the staff enough! They made the whole year worth it, and every question was answered with clarity.
"Since receiving the needed entry requirements from the course I have since gone on to pursue a career in adult nursing at the University of Derby. This would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the dedicated and hardworking staff behind me every step of the way. I would like to personally thank Mr Ciaran Fallon curriculum leader for the access course, Doctor David Arrowsmith and Doctor Craig Platt biology lecturers, Miss Rebecca Hill and Mrs Janet Howson psychology lecturers and the rest of the team that made my pathway to nursing a reality."
